Govt school in Anumalaveedu village, in Racharla Mandal of Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh
The time has come to take the 2 month long efforts of fund raising to its logical conclusion. Hundreds of students and some fantastic individuals had contributed to brighten the lives of poor rural village students.
After careful deliberations, we decided to visit a Govt school in Anumalaveedu village, in Racharla Mandal of Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh on 20th, Sep’12. This remote village is about 300 kms from Hyderabad. This school has 187 students and though the village is electrified, power is not supplied to the village for more than 7 to 8 hours.
The school authorities were too happy to receive us who also called the local print and electronic media to cover the event. The students were told about how their counterparts from Hyderabad had raised funds for the solar lights to be distributed to them. They were also told about the mission of One Child One Light.
Students from the following schools had raised funds for OCOL.
1. Shiva Appa High School, Naagaram, Hyderabad
2. St.Annes High School, Saraswathinagar, Secunderabad
3. St.Gabriels High School, Venkatapuram, Secunderabad
4. Satya Sai Vihar High School, Military Dairy Road, Secunderabad
1. Mr.Ashish Khurana, Vodafone, New Delhi
